Hi, friend! We’re the Carbajals, and we’re so glad you’re here! Adventures with the Carbajals is where we document our adventures and share tips and insight about exploring the great wide world through hiking, camping, kayaking, snow sports, canyoneering, travel, and more. Originally from Southern California, we now make our home in the Pacific Northwest.
We met in a singles small group at our home church in Orange County, California. We always get asked if it was love at first sight…not the case for us! Our relationship grew out of a friendship–the best foundation for a marriage. We grew to know each other through our small group over the course of about 10 months before going out on our first date. We tied the knot in May 2015 and moved to Seattle just a couple of months later, the first big adventure in our marriage!
Adventures with the Carbajals is a travel + outdoor lifestyle blog, but it’s also the story of us. And the biggest part of our story, as a couple and as individuals, is the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Stephanie always had an affinity for hiking and kayaking, but it wasn’t until meeting Josh that she truly found her adventurous spirit. Willing to try almost anything at least once, she’s learning to embrace the edgier activities her mountain man loves. A freelance acquiring editor for a global publishing company, Stephanie is the wordsmith and photographer behind most of the posts on Adventures with the Carbajals.
Our rescue pup, Aspen, accompanies us on many of our expeditions and truly lives up to her Instagram tag, #aspentheadventurepup. Aspen never met a log she didn’t jump up to walk on, and she’s always looking for the trail less traveled or a steep hill to scramble.
